Identity and territory
The eighth edition of the Il Grano Arso event, titled From Earth to Table, will take place on September 11 and 12, 2026. The event, promoted by the Pro Loco Carapelle Cultural Association, has been awarded the Quality Festival recognition, a title that certifies the commitment to preserving the authentic rural traditions of the Apulian territory. The setting chosen for the activities is Piazza Giovanni Paolo II, a central space in the town that serves as an ideal meeting point for the local community and visitors interested in rediscovering the anthropological roots of the region.
A gastronomic heritage
The core of the celebration is the recovery of 'grano arso' (burnt wheat), an iconic product of Apulian peasant civilization. Historically derived from the practice of collecting grains left on the ground after harvesting and the subsequent burning of stubble, 'grano arso' now represents a gastronomic resource ennobled by modern local cuisine. The Quality Festival aims to illustrate this transformation process, offering the public an overview of the processing techniques of the raw material and the various culinary interpretations that have characterized the food history of the Tavoliere delle Puglie.
The artistic program
In addition to the food and wine offerings, the event includes a significant musical program. On September 11, starting at 9:00 PM, attention will be focused on musical performances curated by Maestro Francesco Roccia with the group Drum 50. The following evening, September 12, the stage in Piazza Giovanni Paolo II will host the Anthology Tribute Band, an ensemble dedicated to the artistic production of Michael Jackson. These performances, set within a context of enhancing local heritage, offer a moment of cultural aggregation that integrates historical rediscovery with the universal language of music.
Logistical information
The event is sponsored by UNPLI (National Union of Pro Loco of Italy), ensuring a rigorous institutional framework for the scheduled appointments. For further details regarding access methods, collateral activities, and changes to the program, it is possible to consult the official channels of the Pro Loco Carapelle Cultural Association.
