The essence of the competition
The GranParadisoBike reaches its 26th edition, establishing itself as a benchmark event for the national cycling landscape. The event takes place in Cogne, nestled in the Aosta Valley, a town famous for its connection to mountaineering and the preservation of the natural landscape. Participating in this event means facing a track that requires athletic preparation and respect for the environment that hosts it.
A protected territory
The course winds entirely within the Gran Paradiso National Park, the first nature reserve established in Italy, dating back to 1922. Cycling on these trails means crossing ecosystems of high scientific value, where the protection of alpine biodiversity is a priority. The terrain, characterized by significant gradients and high mountain scenery, gives the race a technical character that tests the endurance of the cyclists.
The race courses
The event offers two different types of tracks to meet different athlete profiles. The Granfondo, with a length of 40 kilometers and a positive elevation gain of 1,200 meters, represents the main challenge for professionals and the most experienced amateurs, requiring constant management of energy and riding techniques.
In parallel, the Open course of 20 kilometers offers a reduced track, also accessible to E-Bikes and youth categories Esordienti and Allievi. This section allows less experienced cyclists or young talents to test their skills on terrain that retains the quality and variety typical of high-altitude routes, in a protected and monitored environment.
Logistics and participation
The competition takes place over a day that requires precise logistical management. The start, set in the heart of Cogne, features an organization dedicated to the safety of the athletes and the supervision of the trails, ensuring that the impact of the event is minimized in line with the Park's directives. For registration, technical regulations, and details on participation categories, it is necessary to refer to the official channels of the event. Prior consultation of the web portal is highly recommended to stay updated on any changes to the course due to weather conditions, typical of alpine altitudes.
