Habsburg Festival in Madonna di Campiglio: a historical reenactment

The return of the Imperial era

On August 18th, the town of Madonna di Campiglio hosts the traditional Habsburg Festival, a major event that evokes the splendor of the 19th century. The initiative recreates the atmosphere of the Austro-Hungarian era, celebrating the historical bond between European nobility and this Alpine village, chosen as a privileged holiday destination by the rulers of the Empire.

The procession through the town center

The day begins at 4:45 PM, when the Imperial court, composed of figures in faithfully reconstructed period costumes, will hold a parade along the main streets of the historic center. The route winds through the typical architecture of the area, highlighting the elegance of the urban spaces and transporting visitors into a 19th-century setting, characterized by ceremonial rigor and high-fashion garments.

Tradition in the Dolomites

The event reaches its peak in Piazza Lorenzetti, one of the most significant corners of the town. Here, the Habsburg court will perform a series of choreographic dances, typical of imperial salons. The show is accompanied by a moment of conviviality, with refreshments open to the public and guests, underlining the welcoming and festive nature of the reenactment.

A unique landscape context

The choice of Madonna di Campiglio as the venue for the event is not accidental. The town, nestled in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites, boasts a history inextricably linked to the elite tourism of the past. The beauty of the mountain landscape, declared a World Heritage Site, serves as a natural backdrop for this reconstruction, capable of integrating the value of Central European tradition with the quality of the Alpine natural environment.

Logistical details

The event takes place exclusively on August 18th. Participation in the procession and the performances in the square is free and open to all interested parties. It is recommended to reach the town center well in advance of the start time set for 4:45 PM in order to benefit from the best view along the route. For further organizational information, please consult the official communication channels of the local tourist board.
