A tribute to the winemaking tradition
During the month of September, the city of Casale Monferrato renews its deep bond with the local food and wine culture through the Monferrato Wine Festival. Now in its 65th edition, the event takes place over two consecutive weekends, specifically on the dates September 18-19-20 and 25-26-27, 2026.
The historical setting: Piazza Castello
The event finds its ideal location in Piazza Castello, a monumental hub characterized by the presence of the imposing Paleologi Castle. The Mercato Pavia structure, a complex of historical and architectural interest, is specially set up to accommodate over 6,000 seats, establishing itself as a landmark for conviviality in the heart of the city center.
A journey through flavors and territorial identity
The core of the event is represented by the collaboration with 31 local Pro Loco associations, invited to present the iconic dishes of Piedmontese culinary tradition. From agnolotti to panissa, through bollito misto (mixed boiled meat), fritto misto (mixed fried meat), and bagna cauda, the gastronomic offering aims to preserve the historical memory of local preparations. These dishes are paired with products from 30 wineries operating in the area protected by UNESCO recognition.
Valorization of native varieties
The selection of wines emphasizes the specificities of the Monferrato terroir. Among the most prominent proposals are Grignolino, Ruché, and Barbera, varieties that represent the typical organoleptic profile of the region. Visitors have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of these labels at the producers' stands, actively participating in the popular vote for the awarding of the title of Festival Wine.
Beyond food and wine
The festival program extends along the streets of the historic center, where markets dedicated to organic products and local craftsmanship are set up. The cultural offer is completed by a schedule of evening musical performances and historical insight events, aimed at contextualizing the territorial productive excellence in a setting of sober and coordinated entertainment.
Logistical information
The event is free to access. Wine tasting at the producers' stands is managed through a system of wine glasses that can be purchased on-site.
