Taobuk 2026: sixteenth edition of the Taormina literary festival

The sixteenth edition of Taobuk

The Taobuk – Taormina International Book Festival is preparing to celebrate its XVI edition, consolidating its position as one of the main cultural hubs in the Mediterranean landscape. From June 18 to 22, 2026, the city of Taormina welcomes international thinkers, novelists, and artists for an intellectual exchange centered on contemporary reflection.

A key theme: Trust

The thematic focus of the 2026 edition is Trust. Artistic director Antonella Ferrara has defined this concept as the most human of postures, a necessary condition for civil coexistence and social progress. The program intends to explore this reflection through debates, book presentations, and public meetings, examining the resilience of the social bond in an era characterized by systemic changes.

Guests and awards

The festival boasts the participation of globally renowned figures in the fields of literature and visual arts. Among the recipients of the Taobuk Award are Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, poet Rupi Kaur, British novelist Jonathan Coe, and Italian author Dacia Maraini. The scientific and cultural program also includes artist Anish Kapoor and Nobel Prize winner Abdulrazak Gurnah, whose contributions enrich the event's critical debate.

The setting of the Ancient Theater

The symbolic heart of the event is set for June 20, the date of the official Gala at the Ancient Theater of Taormina. This structure from the Hellenistic period, later transformed in the Roman era, represents one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Mediterranean basin. Its panoramic position, facing the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, gives the performances and award ceremonies a unique scenographic dimension, integrating the monumental heritage of the past with the intellectual needs of the present.

Logistical information

The festival is spread across various locations in the city, showcasing the historic center of Taormina. Regarding access methods, it is possible to consult the complete schedule of events and seat availability on the official portal. Advance booking is recommended for meetings hosted within the Ancient Theater, given the site's limited capacity and the high profile of the invited guests.
