Wild Boar and Chestnut Festival in San Potito Ultra: Autumn Flavors

Territorial identity and rural roots

The village of San Potito Ultra, nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Avellino province, returns to the spotlight with its historic event dedicated to the excellence of the Campanian hinterland. The Wild Boar and Chestnut Festival, now in its 2026 edition, represents a synthesis of local agricultural production and the centuries-old gastronomic culture of Irpinia. The historic center, characterized by a medieval urban layout and architecture that testifies to the deep bond between the community and the land, welcomes visitors from across the region in a collective celebration of autumn.

A journey through forest flavors

The culinary offerings are structured around two fundamental pillars of the peasant pantry: wild boar and chestnuts. The proposed dishes, prepared according to recipes passed down from generation to generation, highlight the game meat through slow cooking methods, capable of enhancing its structure and authentic flavor. At the same time, the chestnut becomes the undisputed protagonist of hot dishes and artisanal sweets, offered in various versions ranging from savory to traditional local pastries.

The food and wine journey is completed by a selection of Irpinian wines, renowned for their complexity and depth, which offer the ideal accompaniment to the rusticity of the dishes served. The care in choosing zero-mile raw materials ensures a sensory experience that respects seasonality and the integrity of the original product.

Music, folklore, and community

The experience is not limited to the gastronomic dimension. The event features an artistic program that includes the participation of street performers and musicians dedicated to the revival of folk music. The squares and alleys of San Potito Ultra become a stage for performances intended to preserve the intangible heritage of Irpinia, creating an immersive atmosphere where the sound of traditional instruments intertwines with the convivial buzz of diners.

The event is configured as a showcase for promoting the territory, combining conviviality with a rigorous attention to local customs. It is an opportunity to explore the sociocultural dynamics of a village that keeps its identity intact, offering visitors an authentic glimpse of mountain rural life in a setting of rare landscape beauty.
