Sounds of Places: Music and History among the Castles of the Vulture

The music festival

From September 4th to 6th, 2026, the Lucanian territory hosts Sounds of Places - Parks and Castles in Music. The project is an itinerant journey aimed at combining the enhancement of cultural heritage with contemporary singer-songwriter music and Italian folk tradition. The artistic selection focuses on the rediscovery of sound roots through contemporary languages, in a constant dialogue between historical architecture and live performance.

Prestigious settings

The program is set in sites of primary historical importance. Lagopesole Castle, a Frederick II fortification of rare geometric rigor, hosts the first event. The festival continues at the Castle of Melfi, an emblem of Norman power in Southern Italy and a treasure chest of internationally renowned archaeological collections. The cycle concludes at the Archaeological Park of Venosa, an area of inestimable historical value that preserves the traces of the Roman colony of Venusia, offering a natural and monumental frame of rare charm.

Protagonists and sound paths

The artistic program reflects the cultural complexity of Southern Italy. Eugenio Bennato & Taranta Power will open the evenings, bringing a rhythmic and contemporary reinterpretation of Mediterranean folk traditions to the stage. This will be followed by performances by Lina Sastri, an interpreter of established theatrical and musical experience, and the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, a historic ensemble that marked the rediscovery of ethnic music in cultured circles. The events offer the opportunity to experience historical spaces through a sensory experience mediated by singer-songwriter music.
