The identity of an extreme territory
The 74th Grape and Wine Festival takes place in Carema, a mountain village nestled on the border between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley. The landscape is defined by the famous stone terraces, a rural architectural structure of inestimable historical value that supports the local heroic viticulture. Here, the cultivation of Nebbiolo requires constant dedication, making the harvest celebration a moment of deep connection between the community and the territory.
The celebration program
The event begins on Monday, September 21, 2026, with the Carema Prima initiative, dedicated to presenting the new vintages. The program continues with a historiographical study focused on the Casaforte Masun, a defensive building that testifies to the strategic importance of the village in the Middle Ages, accompanied by a performance by the Coro Bajolese. The cultural proposal integrates the enological experience within a context of rediscovery of local roots.
Traditions and tastings among the rows
The weekend represents the core of the activities. Saturday, September 26 is dedicated to the submission of grape samples, a technical moment that precedes the Andar per Cantine Antiche (Walk through Ancient Cellars) itinerary. This route allows access to historical production spaces, observing the preservation of centuries-old winemaking traditions up close. The link between landscape and product becomes even tighter on Sunday, September 27, with a guided hike along the Vineyard Path.
The culmination of the festival
The final day is marked by the solemn Holy Mass, during which the ritual blessing of the fruits takes place. The Winemaker's Lunch offers an opportunity for conviviality dedicated to local producers, culminating in the awards ceremony for the best bunches of grapes. The awarding of the Golden Bunch represents the most coveted recognition, conferred to those who best embody qualitative excellence in vineyard management, officially closing a week of celebrations dedicated to the winemaking identity of Carema.
