Carnevaloa Summer Edition: the carnival tradition in the heart of Loano

The identity of the festival

The Carnevaloa Summer Edition represents a unique revival of Loano's folkloric heritage, transposed from the rigor of winter to the vibrancy of the summer season. Organized by the Associazione Vecchia Loano with the institutional support of the Municipality of Loano, the event transforms the urban fabric into an open-air stage. The event celebrates the cultural continuity of the town, combining historical legacy with the needs of contemporary tourism seeking quality evening entertainment.

A historical-urban route

The heart of the parade winds along the seafront and Corso Roma, thoroughfares that define the maritime profile of Loano. This setting, characterized by its immediate proximity to the Ligurian Sea, offers a highly evocative backdrop for the movement of the allegorical structures. The choice to integrate traditional masks into the summer context allows visitors to observe up close the craftsmanship dedicated to the creation of the floats, choreographic elements that become the protagonists of the town's collective narrative.

The icons of tradition

The parade is presided over by the key figures of local folklore: U Beciancìn, the official mask that embodies the ironic spirit of Loano, accompanied by U Puè Peppin, Princess Doria, and Captain Fracassa. These masks, together with the characteristic Beccian Car, act as guarantors of a historical continuity rooted in Ligurian popular memory. Their presence gives the event a value that goes beyond mere entertainment, outlining a moment of social and identity-based cohesion.

Entertainment and logistics

Beyond the core of the allegorical procession, the program includes themed markets and musical stations located along the route, designed to maintain the energy of the event. The mix of carnival art, live music, and the seaside atmosphere creates a complete sensory experience accessible to a diverse audience. Access to the event is free and takes place in the evening hours, allowing visitors to enjoy the sea breeze while witnessing the performative dynamics of the masks and traveling choreographies, in a union between past and present.
