57th Mushroom and Environment Festival: Tradition and Nature in Budoia

A tribute to Friuli's biodiversity

In the foothills of Budoia, in the province of Pordenone, the 57th Mushroom and Environment Festival returns this September. The event stands as a landmark for local gastronomic and naturalistic culture, transforming the village into a privileged observatory of the richness of the forest floor. The long-standing festival has been awarded the Quality Festival and EcoFVG certifications, reflecting its commitment to promoting a sustainable approach that respects natural resources.

Program and activities

The cultural program spans two weekends, from September 11 to 13 and September 18 to 20, 2026. The heart of the event remains the historic Mycological Exhibition, an exhibition space where industry experts guide the public in discovering various mushroom varieties, illustrating their characteristics, habitats, and properties. Simultaneously, the culinary section aims to highlight local raw materials through curated tastings that follow traditional Friulian recipes.

Beyond the culinary aspect, the program encourages direct interaction with the surrounding environment. The Mushroom March serves as an outdoor sports gathering, allowing participants to explore the trails surrounding the village. The offering is completed by markets dedicated to local crafts and zero-mile food products, along with a schedule of musical events and entertainment that bring the town center to life.

Logistics and participation

The event runs continuously over the six days, offering various ways for visitors and families to participate. The hiking activities and the scientific exhibition are designed for a diverse audience, ensuring an experience that is both educational and recreational. Participants are advised to monitor official channels for specific updates regarding excursion times and concert schedules. Access to the festival areas follows municipal guidelines regarding environmental management and public safety, promoting conscious behavior throughout the duration of the event.
