Pordenonelegge 2026: twenty-seventh edition of the book festival

The celebration of books in Pordenone

From September 16 to 20, 2026, the city of Pordenone will host the 27th edition of pordenonelegge, an event established as a national point of reference for literature. The kermesse acts as a privileged observatory on contemporary publishing production, intertwining themes of narrative with current affairs, science, and economics.

An excellent program

The official opening, set for Wednesday, September 16, is entrusted to writer Salman Rushdie. His participation underscores the international scope of the festival, which for the entire duration of the event transforms the historic city center into a laboratory of ideas and critical discussions between authors and readers.

The program is articulated through a dense network of meetings, presentations, and debates distributed among the iconic sites of the Friulian capital. Historic architecture and civic spaces are set up to welcome the most significant voices of the global literary panorama, fostering a direct dialogue between the author and the public in a context of artistic value.

Towards Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture

This edition takes on strategic importance in view of 2027, the year in which Pordenone will hold the title of Italian Capital of Culture. The conclusion of the festival, scheduled for Sunday, September 20, will see the presence of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, to ratify the institutional and cultural importance of a project that has succeeded in rooting reading in the social fabric of the territory.

Regional extension

Beyond the urban borders, the festival confirms the Fuoricittà (Out of Town) program. This initiative extends the cultural offer to 13 locations in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, bringing significant meetings to decentralized contexts. The goal is to decentralize knowledge, ensuring a capillary information network that enhances the specificities of each involved location.

Logistical information

Access to events is regulated by a distributed calendar available on the official channels of the event. Advance booking is recommended for major meetings that will be held in city halls and regional sites participating in the Fuoricittà project. For updated details on schedules, seat availability, and accreditation methods, you can visit the official website of the event.
