The essence of the festival
From August 24th to October 3rd, The Sounds of the Dolomites festival renews its appointment with singer-songwriter music immersed in the mountain ecosystem of Trentino. The event is distinguished by the absence of conventional stages, preferring the use of natural amphitheaters shaped by the geology of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The sound propagates between rocky walls, high-altitude pastures, and lake basins, redefining the relationship between performer and spectator.
A walking experience
Participation in the concerts requires prior physical effort: reaching the designated sites occurs exclusively through hiking trails. The walk, in this context, takes on the role of a preparatory ritual for listening. The fatigue of the trail encourages a greater disposition toward sound reception, eliminating the technological barrier of amplified stages and favoring the natural acoustics of the alpine valleys.
The landscape as a performative element
The geographical location of the concerts is not accidental. Every location is selected for its panoramic and historical-artistic value in the alpine context. Artists perform in settings where human presence is temporary and aimed at observation and listening. This operating method imposes a rigorous ethic of sustainability, aimed at the conservation of the fragile balance of the High Lands. The silence of the mountain thus becomes the main partner of the orchestra or soloist on duty.
Logistical information
The complete calendar of events, including details on access routes and the technical difficulty of the trails, is available on the official website. It is recommended to plan excursions considering the meteorological variables typical of high altitudes, equipping oneself with appropriate gear. The concerts are free, unless otherwise specified, and access is limited based on the capacity of the natural sites to preserve the integrity of the soil. The public is invited to consult the information pages in a timely manner for any program changes related to adverse conditions.
